The economy of Bemetara is based on agriculture. Almost 80% of the people in Bemetara work on their fields and farms. Another 10% are govt employees in various departments viz: education, irrigation, PWD and FCIs. Along with them the Education deppt is dominating one. 10% peoples are involve in the business and real estate & retail sector. The excise department of bemetara is most dominant department in Bemetara such that it gives the around 5 crore of taxes to municipality of Bemetara.
Culture...
Bemetrian culture is influenced with the Chhattisgarhi ethics, rituals & customs. Likewise other Chhattisgarhi region, this region also organise MANDAI, PANTHI, MELA @ MATARS at different occasions. Matar is conducted on the behalf of bhai duj celebration which is the 2nd day after laxmi pooja(diwali), while mandai and mela celebrated in magh purnima (feb-march) seasion. Apart from diwali holi & other Hindu festivals some regional festivals are celebrated. These are: HARELI, POLA, TIJA,DEO UTHANI EKADASHI, KARTIK POORNIMA etc
